Assignment 1 - Subject Elements

As i typed this, i realized that most of the pictures that i had taken are still with my friend's laptop which i have not got to take from him. So i will just present some of the pictures that i have in hand.

Shape

I chose the following for shape as i felt that it resembles a shooting star. i realized that this could very be fitted under lines but i thought i would be more interesting if i put it under shapes. This is a picture of the underside of those big umbrella thingy(dunno the name of it) of subway nus.

Lines

Well, i dont know if this is considered cheating but this is a picture of my jeans that i took. But i took it in school! This can also be classified under Texture. Well i had another picture that i liked better but that is not with me right now. Will add it in once i got hold of it.

Form

One of the hardest subject element to capture. When i think of form i think of trying to make an object had depth. Not in the depth of feel way but make them have a very 3D feel to it, can almost reach out and grab it kind of feeling. This is one of the few that i can find that i feel perhaps maybe able to represent form. This is taken along the walkway from Arts to YIH.

Lines

Well is this cheating again? Taken in nus! Again i have another photo that are more legitimate but not in my possession now. This can be also classified under Texture.

Color

I realized that this doesnt really stand out. When i see color, i will first think of brilliantly color photos exploding in a kaleidoscopic light show. But thinking about it more, i realized that it can also mean that Color are the dominant medium in bring across certain message in a photograph. And they need not be especially colorful. This is taken at the same place where i took the picture for "Form". I originally took this picture to test out the metering function and i realized that i can use it for Color. On 2nd thoughts, it would be better if i had taken it more close up.

Misc

This is not a category in the Assingment 1, but rather a place where i put in photos that could perhaps be in the catergory. Or that i feel a particular photo deserves a mention. This is a photograph of the sofa in the Student's TV Lounge at YIH. I feel that this can be in either textures or shapes or even lines. The only problem is that the composition is rather boring, as with most of my other shots.
